Octoburst! activities: 1 - 5 October

Turns out there's more to Esplanade's Octoburst than just a drawing competition - it's going to be a full-fledged lil fest with theatre, music, ballet and Bharatanatyam which is great news for kids. 

Ticketed events include The Japanese Garden, another edition of the Tick, Tock and Tack series and The Nutcracker by the SDT. Free events include a concert by the young folks at NAFA's Chinese instruments programme, Mouse and Cookie by The Players Theatre and Shakuntala by Bhaskar's Arts Academy.

Bollywood dance classes for kids

This one is totally for fun.

Bollybeatz is starting dance classes from 22 July onwards for kids 6-8 years to channel their inner Bollywood stars.

Bollybeatz also runs BabyBeatz for 4-5 year olds.

Esplanade's da:ns festival coming up in October includes a parent and tot creative movement workshop for 3-6 years olds.

There's nothing on the Esplanade website yet so watch this space.

Ballet Under the Stars - 25-27 July

I love the composition in Ngiap Heng's pic for the next edition of BUTS.

Anyway, the next arts-in-the-park experience is coming up at the end of the month at Fort Canning Park. It's SDT's 20th anniversary and they've planned excerpts of their most popular works. There's  face-painting and tattoos for children and do I even need to mention the word picnic?

Gates open at 5pm, performance at 7:30pm. And tickets from Sistic. Free admission for infants in arms and children below 6 years of age.

SDT I notice also has some cool dance appreciation concerts for upper primary and secondary school children in August and October. At $11 a ticket, it's a steal. The Nutcracker children's day special in October is even appropriate for kids 3 years and above.

Centrestage holiday workshops start 23 June
